Dry ranch seasoning mix – yum! The smell of ranch always reminds of me of being at my grandma’s, with snack trays full of veggies and ranch. Buuut… we don’t do much dairy around here anymore… So, now I have some of this mixed up and sitting in the spice drawer – easy to add anytime we need it! The dried dill and onion are so aromatic….. mmmmmm!
I used this in a casserole dish yesterday, and it was a huge hit! I can also easily see this being added to many other things in the near future 😉
I’m already scheming on what I should add it to next! Maybe to some of the vegan mayo we get to create a creamy dip..? Or, maybe with some avocado blended into a sauce for tacos…? I’m hungry just thinking about it. I’ve seen multiple recipes where it’s added to mayo, buttermilk, avocado or a combination of those.  Personally, I can see us adding some smoked paprika or cayenne to a dip, with a sans-spicy version for the kiddos. Justin and I like spicy; the kids do not 🙂
Most versions I see call for dried buttermilk to be added. This is definitely not needed! The casserole didn’t feel like it was lacking at all!
I made quite a lot…. I didn’t really think about how much it would end up being, and how a little goes a long way…. I just started pouring the first 2-3 spices, only considering the ratios I was aiming for – and then the bowl was full (halfway through the spices). Oooops. Â So, I have a bag that will last quite a while. I’ll be giving you the recipe below with half of what I used, which is about perfect to keep extra on hand. If you’re looking for a one-time mix, for only one recipe, you should half the amounts below again.

- 1/4 c dried dill weed
- 1/4 c dried chives (green onion)
- 1/4 c garlic powder
- 1/4 c onion powder
- 2/3 c dried onion flakes
- 1 T finely ground black pepper
- 1 T finely ground salt
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients into a bowl and stir well
- Store in an airtight container (mason jars work great!)
- Use as little, or as much as you need for a recipe (but be careful - this is strong!)
Notes
I used about 1.5 T for an entire casserole dish - start with just a little and add more if needed - a little of this goes a long way!
