Yep – this is just what it sounds like…. Avocado cilantro lime sauce. I see this all over the internet these days (seriously, I’m sure you’ve heard of this!). Everyone seems to be putting this sauce on their fish/seafood tacos. Or anything else for that matter…
The trouble is, it always has yogurt in it. So many of my family/friends/patients are dairy free… CHALLENGE ACCEPTED Just kidding, this wasn’t hard 😉
Wait a minute – it doesn’t have to have dairy in it! Duh. In my house we LOVE LOVE LOVE cilantro and lime! Our version uses more avocado, more lime and more cilantro.
UH — heads up — if you aren’t super into lime and cilantro like we are this may be a little overpowering for you… However, you can certainly use your imagination to sub in something else, while decreasing the lime/cilantro! Plain ol’ water works great too (remember though that a little goes a long way! You don’t want to end up with a thin/runny sauce…eww…). Tomato works great too for liquid, but cuts down the flavor (which might be a good thing if you added too much lime!)
This is just a simpler version of guacamole, made in a blender.
Alright, simple recipe here we come! What-what! (<— yes, I’m a goofball sometimes)

5 minTotal Time
Ingredients
- 1.5 medium ripe avocados, pitted
- 1 cup loosely packed cilantro (NOT chopped, just grab some from the bunch)
- 2 medium limes, juiced
- 1 t minced garlic
- 1/4 t salt
- 1/4 t pepper
Instructions
- Place 1/2 avocado and all other ingredients into blender cup; blend well.
- Add additional 1/2 avocado; blend well.
- Add last 1/2 avocado and blend until smooth and creamy.
Notes
This is thick, so is best blended 1/3 of the avocado at a time. Trust me. Otherwise it can be tricky to get it blended well...
